Host a DRAFTNIGHT Draft Over Discord

Bring remote team owners together in Discord, share the DRAFTNIGHT broadcast, connect everyone to the draft room, and start drafting.

Hosting through Discord lets every team owner join the conversation, watch the DRAFTNIGHT broadcast, and make picks from their own device. You can use the official DRAFTNIGHT Discord server or a voice channel in your own server.

In this guide

Prepare the league

Before creating the league, collect the following information from every participating team owner:

  • Team name
  • Preferred team color
  • Optional team logo
  • Keeper selections, if applicable

Gathering this information in advance makes setup faster and helps prevent delays on draft night.

Sign in to DRAFTNIGHT and select Create League from the dashboard. Configure the league settings, add each team, choose its color and optional logo, assign any keepers, and verify the roster settings and draft order.

See League & Draft Setup for details about formats, rosters, keepers, and pick order.

Use the official DRAFTNIGHT Discord server

1. Create a Discord draft room

Join the official DRAFTNIGHT Discord server, then enter the Create New Draft Room voice channel.

A temporary Discord channel will be created for your draft. Use this channel to talk with team owners and stream the DRAFTNIGHT broadcast.

2. Invite the team owners

Invite each owner to the official Discord server and direct them to the temporary draft room.

Team owners do not need their own DRAFTNIGHT accounts. They need access to the Discord call and the DRAFTNIGHT room code.

3. Create the DRAFTNIGHT room

Open the league from the DRAFTNIGHT dashboard and select Launch Draft. Review the draft settings and pick order, then select Create Draft Room.

Share the six-character room code with every owner. Each person can open the DRAFTNIGHT join page on a phone, tablet, or computer, enter the room code, provide a display name, and claim the correct team.

4. Share the broadcast

Open the DRAFTNIGHT broadcast or TV display on the computer running Discord. Return to the Discord call and share the browser window that contains the broadcast.

When Discord offers the choice, share the individual browser window instead of the entire screen. Enable audio sharing so participants can hear music, pick sounds, reactions, and other broadcast audio.

Before starting, ask another owner to confirm that the stream is visible and its audio can be heard.

5. Assign the commissioner and start

Wait until every owner has joined the DRAFTNIGHT room and claimed the correct team. If another participant will manage the live controls, assign that person as Commissioner from the lobby.

Once the Discord stream and DRAFTNIGHT room are ready, select Start Draft.

Use your own Discord server

You can also host the draft through your own Discord server, group call, or private voice channel.

1. Create or select a voice channel

Create a voice channel for the draft or choose an existing channel. Confirm that every team owner has permission to:

  • View the channel
  • Join the voice call
  • Speak in the call
  • Watch the shared screen

2. Invite the team owners

Send each owner an invitation to the Discord server and direct them to the draft voice channel. Ask everyone to join before the scheduled start time so there is time to resolve connection, permission, or audio problems.

3. Create the DRAFTNIGHT room

Open the league from the DRAFTNIGHT dashboard, complete the launch review, and create the draft room.

Share the room code with the owners. They can open the DRAFTNIGHT join page, enter the code, and claim their team.

4. Share the DRAFTNIGHT broadcast

Open the broadcast or TV display in a separate browser window. In Discord:

  1. Join the draft voice channel.
  2. Select Share Your Screen.
  3. Choose the browser window displaying DRAFTNIGHT.
  4. Enable audio sharing.
  5. Start the stream.

Sharing only the broadcast window prevents participants from seeing private messages, account information, or unrelated applications.

5. Confirm everyone is ready

Before starting the draft, confirm that:

  • Every team owner has joined the Discord call.
  • Every owner has joined the DRAFTNIGHT room.
  • Every team has been claimed by the correct owner.
  • The Discord stream is visible to another participant.
  • Broadcast audio is working for another participant.
  • The intended commissioner has access to the live controls.

When every item is confirmed, select Start Draft.

Draft remotely

Team owners make selections from their own phones, tablets, or computers while watching the shared DRAFTNIGHT broadcast through Discord. Keep the Discord call and DRAFTNIGHT controller open for the duration of the draft.

If a controller disconnects, the owner should reopen the same controller URL or join again with the same room code. If the broadcast stops, share the DRAFTNIGHT browser window again without creating a replacement draft room.

See Hosting & Joining a Draft for room access and reconnection help or Draft Controls & Broadcast for commissioner and display controls.
