How League Slots Work

Understand when a league occupies a Season Pass slot, when that slot becomes permanently consumed, and how deletion, cancellation, and reruns affect usage.

Your Season Pass includes a limited number of league slots for each season. A league slot is sometimes described as a draft slot because it allows one configured league to run its draft-night experience.

The dashboard displays your current usage as League Slots Consumed. This guide explains when that number changes and when a slot can still be recovered.

In this guide

When a league occupies a slot

Creating a league occupies one slot for that league's season. The slot counter increases when the league is created, even if its draft room has not been launched.

The following actions do not use additional slots:

  • Adding teams, logos, keepers, or draft settings to an existing league.
  • Creating a draft room for a league that is already on the dashboard.
  • Owners joining the room or claiming their teams.
  • Reconnecting to an existing room.
  • Canceling and relaunching an eligible draft for the same league.

The number of teams, owners, devices, or draft rounds does not change the number of slots used. One league occupies one slot.

Recoverable and permanently consumed slots

A newly created league occupies a slot, but that slot remains recoverable while the draft is still in setup or the early rounds. Deleting the league during this period removes it from the dashboard and returns the slot to your available total.

Once the draft reaches its consumption point, the slot becomes permanently associated with that league for the season. The league can no longer be deleted to recover the slot.

League formatSlot becomes permanently consumed
Re-DraftWhen the draft advances into Round 3
KeeperWhen the draft advances into Round 3
RookieWhen the draft advances into Round 2

A draft that finishes before reaching the listed round still consumes its slot when it is completed. For example, completing a one-round rookie draft consumes the league slot even though the draft never advances into Round 2.

Once a slot is permanently consumed, canceling the room, undoing a pick, or returning to an earlier round does not restore it.

Canceling a draft room

Canceling closes the current live room. It does not delete the league and does not reduce the slot counter.

If the room is canceled before the consumption point, you can either:

  • Keep the league and launch a new room later. The same occupied slot is reused.
  • Delete the league from the dashboard to recover the slot.

If the room is canceled after the consumption point, the league remains on the dashboard and the slot stays consumed. You can launch another room for that same league if the draft was not completed, but the league cannot be deleted.

Deleting a league

Deleting an eligible league returns its occupied slot because the league no longer counts against the seasonal limit. Deletion is available only before the slot becomes permanently consumed and before the draft is completed.

If a draft room is still open, cancel it first and then delete the league. Deleting a league permanently removes its configuration, teams, keeper assignments, and associated draft-room data.

Completed drafts cannot be deleted, and their slots remain consumed for the season.

Relaunching and rerunning a league

Creating another room for the same eligible league does not consume another slot. This allows a commissioner to replace a canceled room without creating a duplicate league.

A league that has crossed the consumption point but has not completed can still be relaunched after its previous room is canceled. Team information is locked after consumption, although supported draft settings may remain editable when no room is active.

After a draft is completed, the league becomes read-only and a new room cannot be created from it. Its saved results remain available from the dashboard.

Reaching your slot limit

The dashboard and billing page show the number of league slots currently occupied and the total included with your Season Pass. When every slot is occupied, you cannot create another league.

To make room for another league, you can:

  • Delete an existing league whose slot has not been permanently consumed.
  • Upgrade to a Season Pass with a higher league limit.

Deleting a consumed or completed league is not available. Upgrading increases the total number of leagues you can operate without changing existing league data.
